5 New Year's Eve Makeup Ideas

5 New Year's Eve Makeup Ideas

Look your best for the biggest night of the year! Here's the complete how-to on five high impact star looks.Shiny Red Lips Embrace the New Year with a bold new hue. Taylor Swift's makeup artist Lorrie Turk keeps the eyes simple-save for many coats of lush mascara and a bit of icy shadow-to prevent the star from looking overdone.

DARK NEUTRALS
If you're wearing a metallic dress like Kerry Washington, why not highlight your face and eyes with similar moody tones? (That's exactly what her makeup artist Sam Fine did here!) A warm, bronzey canvas was his starting point: "I always choose bronzer one shade deeper than the complexion to add dimension. I love to contour the forehead, cheeks and sides of the nose."

PEACHY GLOW AND LUSH LASHES
You don't need pounds of makeup to make a statement. In fact, pastels are a fresh, unexpected choice during winter months. Makeup artist Melanie Inglessis, who created this look for Olivia Wilde, says she went for "soft glowing skin and amazing eyelashes."

DRAMATIC PINK
Red lips are are the obvious choice with LDB's. Makeup artist Hugh Vanngo added an element of surprise by giving Camilla Belle a striking pink lip. "Camilla is always open to play with makeup," he says.

FROST AND ICE
"I wanted Carey to really stand out," her makeup artist Georgie Eisdell told us. "I wanted it to be all eyes, eyebrows and perfect skin-but minimal color." A wash of lightweight foundation and a dusting of translucent powder perfected Mulligan's complexion.

Ingredients:
½ very ripe, soft avocado
¼ cup honey
Directions:
Mash the avocado in a bowl, then stir in honey.
Apply to skin and leave for 10 minutes.
Rinse face with a cool washcloth.

Easy Skin Care Tips For Cold Weather

Easy Skin Care Tips For Cold Weather
Start using your humidifier. To remedy a dry home, bring in a humidifier and set humidity level between 45% and 55% to infuse the air with enough moisture for you skin to reap the benefits.
Don’t use harsh soap. Deodorant and antibacterial soaps are especially harsh on your skin, compromising your skin’s natural moisture barrier. Instead, opt for mild, fragrance-free cleansers.
Give your hands extra TLC. Moisturize hands every time after washing. Trade in traditional hand sanitizer for a combination sanitizer that contains moisturizer or lotion.
Soften your soles. Your regular body lotion may not be enough for your feet. Look for a thicker cream to penetrate rough, dry skin on feet.
Ease up on facial exfoliating. Reduce the frequency of facial peels and masks to avoid irritating your skin.
Always go fragrance-free dye-free options. Avoid irritants often found in everyday products by selecting fragrance-free or dye-free options. Un-scented means there’s a masking scent and this is just another form of fragrance designed not to have a smell.
Eat the harvest. The best high-antioxidant fruits and vegetables in their peak season right now. My favorites are cranberries, blueberries, pumpkin, pomegranate and squash. These foods will help feed your skin from the inside out and keep it looking its youngest most beautiful best.

TIPS TO HELP PROTECT COLOR-TREATED HAIR & KEEP IT LOOKING FABULOUS!

TIPS TO HELP PROTECT COLOR-TREATED HAIR & KEEP IT LOOKING FABULOUS!
Long-Lasting Hair Color Depends on Well-Conditioned Hair
Hair color can make hair more porous, which causes it to absorb and release moisture more easily. This can cause loss of color molecules every time your hair gets wet. Here are tips on how to keep as much moisture in your hair as possible, by maintaining the best possible condition.
Have Your Stylist Use Only Quality, Conditioning Hair Colors
Begin by asking your hair colorist to use a professional hair color with conditioning properties that will continue to condition the hair as the weeks go by. Hair color with natural oils will help retain moisture in your color-treated hair and leave it looking shiny and healthy. Ammonia-free haircolor is another great professional option that treats hair with TLC?

Remember: Red Dye is Most Susceptible to Color Loss
– Red hair colors tend to fade faster because they have the largest molecules. The molecule size makes it more difficult for red dyes to penetrate deeply into the hair, thus they dissipate more rapidly. So when going for a red hue, be sure to have your stylist use hair color that maximizes high-definition color results with minimum stress to the hair’s cuticle.
Shampoo Your Color-Treated Hair Less Frequently
– To prevent water from washing away your vibrant color, the answer is simple: Wash your hair less often. To retain those natural oils that help condition your color-treated hair, shampoo just two or three times per week, and never more than every other day. This will help your color last longer and help maintain health in your colored hair.
On the In-Between Days, Use a Color-Safe Dry Shampoo on Color-Treated Hair
-- To help keep color-treated hair looking fresh, flip your hair over and spray dry shampoo at the roots to soak up oil.

After Coloring, Wait 2 Days Before You Shampoo
– When you color your hair, wait at least 48 hours to shampoo, preferably longer. If you can go three or four days before shampooing, even better. This will give the color plenty of time to set.

When You Don’t Shampoo, Keep Your Hair Dry in the Shower
-- During those off days, wear a shower cap to keep your color-treated hair from getting wet while showering as this can cause some color to fade. Or, pull your hair up into a loose bun or a ponytail to protect it from getting wet.

Tips For The Perfect Cat Eye

Tips For The Perfect Cat Eye
When drawing a cat eye, follow the outer bottom lash line upward to get the perfect line.
If you have a hard time drawing a straight line of eyeliner at the base of the lids, draw dashes and connect by smudging the liner with a Q-tip.
When creating a cat eye, keep applying eyeliner past the length of your eyebrow. You can always remove the excess, but it can be really hard to lengthen a liquid line with precision if you’ve stopped too soon.

Things Women With Great Hair Do Every Day

Things Women With Great Hair Do Every Day
She avoids heat styling as much as possible.
But let's be honest, you have to use them sometimes. Michael Dueñas, celebrity hairstylist and founder of Hair Room Service, recommends steam rollers, which are gentle on the hair and do not get overly warm, as they're heated solely by steam passing through the foam on the roller. But if you absolutely have to use hot tools (blow dryers, curling irons, wands, flat irons, hot rollers) to style your hair, always use a spray-in heat protectant, says Eve Galminche, Arrojo top colorist.
She always sleeps on silk.
Silk's smooth texture won't rough up your hair cuticle when you sleep the way cotton does, leaving you with smoother hair in return, explains Suave Professionals celebrity stylist Marcus Francis. Fewer frizzy strands in the morning? Now that's the dream (no pun intended).
She keeps her hair clean.
We're sure you've heard a lot about the No-Poo movement (basically not shampooing your hair to preserve your natural oils), but Cristophe Salon Newport Beach owner Scott Fontana urges you to listen to your hair. "As long as women are using quality products, they can benefit from more frequent washing," he explains. "It reduces split ends, provides great moisture, and gives hair an overall clean and shiny look."
She eats the right foods.
For all the attention we pay to the hair follicle once it leaves the scalp, half the battle for beautiful hair is already lost (or won) by what you're putting in your body every day. According to Dr. Robert Dorin, New York City-board certified diplomat of the American Board of Hair Restoration, what you eat plays a huge role in gloss, growth, and volume.
"A diet rich in iron, zinc, Omega-3 fatty acids, and protein will help stimulate your hair follicles for growth." Dorin recommends alternating between lean red meat, chicken, and fish during the week for optimum hair health.

Beauty Uses For Baking Soda

Beauty Uses For Baking Soda
Hand Wash
Sometimes antibacterial soap just can't cut through a greasy mess (think: that time you used way too much coconut oil). Baking soda can actually cut through the oil slick to thoroughly clean skin. Pour a little bit of the powder into your hand and mix with water to remedy oily palms.
Dry Shampoo
When you've used your dry shampoo to the last pump, turn to baking soda for a quick DIY fix. Sprinkle the powder close to the roots and massage into the scalp to dry up excess oil. For dark hair, you can even add a spoonful of cocoa powder to avoid the pure white cast.
Natural Deodorant
If you're looking for a natural deodorant without the threat of aluminum, you can turn to your kitchen cupboard. You can use baking soda mixed with water to create an odor-repelling paste. There are also more complex recipes that add essential oils, cornstarch, and arrowroot to the mix to create a DIY stick.
Teeth Whitener
Stir together a paste of baking soda and water. The natural exfoliant will help lift surface stains from coffee, red wine, and smoking. To really boost the efficiency of this treatment, you can mix the powder with hydrogen peroxide. While this DIY mix will immediately brighten tarnished teeth, baking soda can't whiten permanently like an in-office bleaching treatment.
Face Scrub
The abrasive particles of sodium bicarbonate make it an easy and natural skin exfoliant. You can sprinkle the mix into your favorite gentle face wash for an added scrubbing effect. You can also make a paste of three parts baking soda and one part water.
Nail Whitener
An addiction to colorful nail polish shades can lead to yellowing tips and discolored cuticles. To whiten your nails, use a concoction of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. Apply the salve with an old toothbrush and let sit for three to five minutes before rinsing.
Self-Tanner Remover
Got streaks? One wrong move and self-tanner can turn into a streaky, orange mess. You can easily fix visible tanning lines with baking soda. Apply a mix of baking soda and lemon juice to the area that's uneven to scrub away the mistake.

Castor Oil Benefits!!!

Castor Oil Benefits!!!
Use #1: Improve Hair Growth
Castor oil is great for treating dry skin on the scalp (aka dandruff) and since it has antibacterial and antifungal properties, it also helps protect the scalp from fungal infections—two prime causes for hair loss. At the same time, it deeply moisturizes the scalp with fatty acids and helps stimulate circulation in the scalp to improve hair growth.
Use #2: Smooth Dry Ends
As previously mentioned, this stuff is pretty much the key to silky hair! Apply warmed castor oil to dry ends to trap in moisture, leaving hair thicker and healthier.
Use #3: Make DIY Mascara
Using castor oil, beeswax, and charcoal powder, create your own natural mascara (or apply it to lashes alone) for thicker and darker lashes.
Use #4: Thicken Brows
Due to said magical hair-growth properties, castor oil can also help thinning brows. Apply daily with a spoolie brush and make sure it penetrates skin beneath brows as well to see thicker brows in just a few weeks.

Oil isn’t the enemy; it’s actually pretty awesome!

Oil isn’t the enemy; it’s actually pretty awesome!
A lot of us think oil in any form is bad for our skin and can cause clogged pores and a greasy finish, but TheBeautyBean.com founder Alexis Wolfer says it actually comes in pretty handy when you’re looking to take off your makeup for the day. In the fall, especially, coconut oil can give your skin the extra boost it needs: “Remove your eye makeup with coconut oil – it will not only remove even the most stubborn waterproof mascara, it will also keep your precious peepers moisturized as the weather changes.”

GLITTER!!!

GLITTER!!!
Whether it was a nod to David Bowie, whose passing came only a few days before the kickoff of NYFW Fall 2016, or for a futuristic effect, glitter graced every inch of the face this season, from brow bones at Giambattista Valli to cheekbones—and ears and jawlines—at Opening Ceremony, where silver shimmer stood in for contour powder on some models. At Burberry, makeup artist Wendy Rowe also dipped her brush in the trend (a first for the always minimal show, beauty-wise), dusting mirrored flecks around the outer corners of the eyes and letting them fall where they may.
You know those little tubes of loose glitter you see in the aisles of your go-to makeup retailer? Well, now you know exactly how you’re supposed to use them: however you want.

Cure Your Skin Care Woes and Pumpkin Cravings With a DIY Face Mask!!

Cure Your Skin Care Woes and Pumpkin Cravings With a DIY Face Mask!!
Make your base: Whisk together about 1/4 cup of pumpkin and one whole egg. The yolk adds nourishment while the white provides a subtle tightening effect to sagging skin.
Dry skin additive: Add a few teaspoons of honey, which not only seals in moisture, but prevents breakouts thanks to its antibacterial properties.
Oily skin additive: For an astringent effect, mix in a splash of apple cider or cranberry juice.
Apply: Smooth the pumpkin-y potion over your face, relax for 15 to 20 minutes, and rinse to reveal a brighter, firmer, smoother complexion.

The 5 Rules of Luscious Lashes!

The 5 Rules of Luscious Lashes!
During this sticky, humid time of year the last thing we want are globs of makeup. But long, luscious lashes — those are a year-round necessity. Follow these five rules to get perfect eyelashes without having to revert to time-consuming falsies or expensive extensions.
1. Eyelash curlers are essential.
Sonia Kashuk, makeup artist and founder of Sonia Kashuk Beauty, swears by lash curlers as the key to giving lashes that “wow” factor. “Be sure to choose one that creates a beautiful upward curl, such as Sonia Kashuk Dramatically Defining Eye Lash Curler [$8.99, target.com], and with a delicate pumping motion, move from the lash base upward for maximum results.” And always curl before applying mascara, not after. When bare, “The eyelashes are suppler so the crimping of the lash doesn’t feel as damaging,” Kashuk explains.
2. Let lashes set between layers of mascara.
Practice a little patience between each coat. “Giving a little bit of air time between each coat will allow the mascara to set and build upon each layer instead of gooping up as one big clump,” Kashuk says. One of our new favorite non-clumping mascaras is Topshop False Lash Mascara ($20, us.topshop.com) — the formula adds volume while the wand combs and separates.
3. Prevent “spider lashes” with a lash comb.
Avoid spidery clumps by combing lashes after applying mascara. “A metal-toothed lash comb is key; apply a coat, wait a few seconds, brush through eyelashes, and then apply the next coat.” Sonia Kashuk’s new double-ended Lashify Mascara ($6.99, soniakashuk.com) comes complete with a lash comb for quick brushing.
4. Don’t layer different mascaras.
“I wouldn’t recommend this, as some formulas will not mix well and end up clumping,” Kashuk says. However, some mixing and matching does work. If there’s a wand you perfer over another, clean it off and use with your favorite formula or as a lash comb.
5. Condition and treat your lashes daily.
Just like your hair, your lashes need a little TLC. Lash conditioners, such as Dior Diorshow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum ($28.50, sephora.com) work as a primer, creating a smooth surface for mascara. Growth treatments like Latisse “stimulate the eyelash growth cycle, making it longer, so lashes come in longer, darker and thicker,” says Dr. Elizabeth Tanzi, Co-director of the Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery in Washington, DC. Full results take within 2-3 months, while improvements show within 4 weeks.

Fall beauty must!!

Fall beauty must!!
Overhaul your makeup bag
It's time to turn your makeup bag upside down and take stock of what you want to keep – and what should be tossed. The start of a new season is a great time to overhaul your cosmetics bag and make sure anything expired or that you no longer use is replaced. While you're at it, do a thorough cleaning of all your makeup brushes with a mild, unscented soap and warm water or brush cleaner. If it's been a while since you've given them a wash, now is a good time to make sure they're free of oil, debris and other icky things you definitely don't want on your skin.

Pretty Makeup Look to Try in 2016!!

Pretty Makeup Look to Try in 2016!!
Cranberry Shadow
With a hint of brown, red shadow becomes sultry, elegant, and supremely flattering. Sticking to matte powder shadows, makeup artist Kate Lee prepped Nicola Peltz's eyes with a light tan shadow. "I like using a primer when I opt for a matte shadow, as it makes the application seamless," she says. To enhance the shape of the eyes, Lee lined top and bottom lashes with Chanel Le Crayon Khôl in Ambre, smudging the pigment into the roots of the lashes and darkening the line at the outer corners. Next, Lee took Kevyn Aucoin The Eyeshadow Duo in Bloodroses, a deep bordeaux shade, and brushed it over the liner and up toward the creases. She then took a second, clean shadow brush to blur the edges and fade the shadow at the inner corners.

MAKEUP TREND FOR FALL 2016

MAKEUP TREND FOR FALL 2016
BLACK OUT
There are only two things you need your eyeliner to be this season: black and greasy. When it comes to technique, it's a free-for-all. Stay safe with a classic flick, as seen at Nicole Miller, or a soft smudge; go for the piercing stare of a Versace girl by rimming your waterlines in ink; or take a dramatically dark turn and don't stop 'til you hit the brow.

Hot tips to stay cool

Hot tips to stay cool
Eat small meals and eat more often. The larger the meal, the more metabolic heat your body creates breaking down the food. Avoid foods that are high in protein, which increase metabolic heat.
Run your wrists under a cold tap for five seconds each every couple of hours. Because a main vein passes through this area, it helps cool the blood.
Eat spicy food. Although this may be the last thing you fancy in hot weather, curries and chillies can stimulate heat receptors in the mouth, enhance circulation and cause sweating, which cools the body down.
Take a tepid bath or shower just below body temperature, especially before bedtime. Although a cold shower might sound more tempting, your body generates heat afterwards to compensate for the heat loss.

Makeup Trend Alert!!

Makeup Trend Alert!!
NEGATIVE SPACE EYELINER
With similar streamlined appeal to negative space nails, the eyeliner iteration of the technique is sleek, graphic, and kind of retro. It's as simple as drawing lines in the crease of the lids or even just tracing the outlines of cat eye. It's all about the cut out effect, which means your lines need to be precise and stay in tact. Make sure you us a shadow primer and long-lasting, budge-proof liquid liner.
